Sake Dean Mahomed (1759–1851), pronounced Sheikh deen mohammed was an Bengali traveller, surgeon, entrepreneur, and one of the most notable early non-European immigrants to the Western World . He has unparalled place in Indian English literature history, he was the first Indian author to publish in English language, “ The Travels of Dean Mahomed”, in 1794. He was known as the man of several talents. He was the first entrepreneur who had gained popularity by building cultural connections between India and England as early as 1800s. Mahomed became most popular at the age of 25 when he had opened the first Indian restaurant in 1810 in UK named “Hindoostane Coffee House” in the George Street, near Portman Square, Central London.
